Institute of Botany

The Institute of Botany, University of the Punjab, Lahore has produced many distinguished scholars ever since its establishment in 1924. The Institute is known for its outstanding research in various areas including Molecular Biology, Nanotechnology, Paleobotany and Palynology, Plant Ecology, Environmental Biology, Plant Biochemistry, Plant Physiology, Plant Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Mycology and Fungal Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics and Plant Biodiversity. The institute offers undergraduate (BS 4 year program, BS after AD 2 year program), postgraduate (M.Phil./MS) and doctoral degrees to its students. Currently, twelve highly specific and moderately to fully equipped research laboratories with an elaborate research program involving national and international collaborations with academia, industry and government organizations are being run. The Institute has a Library, Computer laboratory, a Girls’ Common Room, Herbarium, Botanical Garden, Floriculture Research Farm, Vegetable Research Farm, and Experimental Sites for research experiments.
