Quality Enhancement Cell

As per directions of Higher Education Commission, the Punjab University established Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) in 2006. Initially, QEC, PU has been allocated in the premises of Institute of Quality & Technology Management, University of the Punjab, Lahore.
In July-2012, QEC was shifted at the premises of Centre for Undergraduate Studies, University of the Punjab, Lahore. In December-2013, QEC was shifted to its separate newly constructed building at 1st floor of Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, University of the Punjab, Lahore.

Quality is an inherent and distinguished characteristic through which an institution can guarantee the maintenance and enhancement of its education. Quality is an ongoing process of building and sustaining relationships by assessing, anticipating, and implied needs. Educational standards are Enhanced and maintained through quality of education.

Recent attempts at improving the quality of education have tended to rely on National and International Educational Policy reforms that build on the rich research findings through linking educational inputs to the student's achievement.
“Education is progressive knowledge of self ignorance”, is the rational for introducing the self evaluation system in the University to enhance the quality of education; a process compatible to the International standard. Based on the fact “Quality is the responsibility of all not of individual”. The QEC is working in close collaboration with the Vice Chancellor to perform the following salient functions:-
Quality Enhancement Cell Functions
QEC is responsible for promoting public confidence that the quality & standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded.
QEC is responsible for the review of quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.
QEC is responsible for the review of academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs.
QEC is responsible for defining clear standards as reference that the reviews to be carried out. It should also help the employer that what they want to expect from candidates.
QEC is responsible to develop qualifications framework by setting out the attributes and abilities that can be expected from the holder of a qualification i.e. Bachelors, Bachelor with honors, Master's, M.Phil, Doctoral etc.
QEC is responsible to develop program specifications. These standards are set of information clarifying what knowledge, understanding, skills and other attributes a student will have developed through a specific program.
QEC is responsible to develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation that quality of provision and standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject and staff development together with research and other scholarly activities.
QEC is responsible to ensure that the university's quality assurance procedures are designed to fit in with the arrangements in place nationally for maintaining and improving the quality of higher education.
