Hafiz Khawar Riaz delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), focusing on the  Topic. The Speaker said that in this digital era, social media has become one of the most influential tools shaping public opinion, culture, and behavior. While it holds tremendous potential for education, awareness, and positive communication, it also carries risks of misinformation, moral degradation, and social discord. Therefore, the role of the state in guiding the positive use of social media becomes not just important but essential, especially when viewed through the lens of the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Mr. Khawar said that in Islam, the state is not only a political body but also a moral guardian. The Prophet ﷺ himself, as the Head of the first Islamic state in Madinah, took steps to promote truth, prevent harm, and protect society from falsehood and fitnah (chaos).
In the end, Prof. Dr. Naheed S. Goraya, Director CSAS said that the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us that speech is a responsibility and that truth is a trust. In this age of digital communication, the state must adopt policies that reflect these timeless values. Dr. Goraya emphasized that let us not forget; With great power comes great responsibility and social media is indeed a great power. It is the duty of the state to guide its citizens towards the responsible use of this power, following the noble example of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
