Annual Sports Day held on 7th march, 2019 in the Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab


Institute of Applied Psychology, University of Punjab organized its Annual Sports Day on 7th march, 2019. The event started with reception of the chief guest, Dr Zafar Iqbal, director Department of Sport Sciences & Physical Education. Dr Zafar Iqbal along with the faculty members of the Institute inaugurated the event. The Acting Director, Dr. Rafia Rafique, welcomed everyone and praised the efforts of academic committee and students for arranging these extracurricular events. The chief guest, Dr Zafar Iqbal appreciated the efforts of Institute of Applied Psychology for arranging sports activities that bring health and tolerance in students and community and provide them opportunities for healthy competitions. Mr. Nadeem Qaisar, Divisional Officer of Punjab, Sports Board, Lahore, praised Instituted of Applied Psychology for arranging such events for the students. The sports gala was graced by the presence of senior most, worthy teachers from diverse departments in order to promote fraternal spirits. The notable guests included Dr. Mumtaz Anwar, Dr. Khalid, Dr. Asmatullah, Dr. Mazhar, Dr. Saima Dawood, Dr. Naumana Amjad, Ms. Tehreem, Dr. Noshina Saleem, Dr. Rehan and Dr. Asim Tanveer. The opening ceremony of the event included karate demonstration followed by a series of races. Cricket matches, badminton, football, table tennis and Ludo games were also held, in which students from different degrees participated. Various stalls of food, merchandise as well as accessories were also set up by the students. In the closing ceremony, Dr Shazia Qayyum, Student Advisor, at Institute of Applied Psychology, highlighted the importance of such events for the physical and psychological health of the students, she thanked all the guests, faculty members, stuff members and students for enthusiastically participating in the games. In the end, medals and certificates were distributed among the winners and organizers by Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique. She appreciated the sportsperson’s spirit of the students as they play elemental role in physical and mental well-being.
