PU IAP organized a webinar entitled "Substance Use and Suicide in Youth: Challenges and Opportunities in Prevention"


Institute of Applied Psychology organized a webinar entitled “Substance Use and Suicide in Youth: Challenges and Opportunities in Prevention” on 26th June, 2022 to raise awareness regarding the psychological impacts of drug abuse & the preventive measures in wake of the Global International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The webinar was chaired by Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique, Director Institute of Applied Psychology. The resource person for the webinar was Dr Salman Shahzad, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology. Dr. Salman is International Certified Addiction Professional and certified Drug Demand Reduction Trainer at UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), Vienna. Dr Salman explained the psychological impact of widespread drug abuse and different risk factors associated with alcohol use among adolescents. Moreover, he discussed the indigenous preventive programs against drug addiction and concluded the webinar by highlighting the role of government in curbing the social evil of drug abuse. The webinar was attended by students and faculty members of Institute of Applied Psychology.
