PU to organize int’l conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture


LAHORE: (Friday, August 12, 2022): Punjab University Institute of Zoology will organize two-day international conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture to bring reforms in Pakistan's fisheries industry. The conference will be attended by a large number of local and foreign experts.
In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Director Institute of Zoology Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi in which Conference Coordinator Prof Dr Noor Khan, Director Punjab Fisheries Malik Muhammad Ramzan, Shahnawaz Janjua, Chaudhry Muhammad Abbas, Chaudhry Nabil Akhtar, Javed Iqbal Sindhu, Iftikhar Ahmad Qureshi, Farhan Khan, Dr Raees Ahmed, fisheries and aquaculture experts from all over Pakistan, fish farmers, fish feed manufacturers and people associated with fish farming participated.
Talking to the meeting, Dr Qazi said that the challenges and problems faced by the fish farming industry will be discussed and the efforts to solve the problems will be welcomed. He said that the administration would also invite scientists who perform practical duties so that farmers' land problems can be solved.
The conference coordinator Dr Khan gave a presentation to the participants on the arrangements and sponsors of the conference and other issues. He said that for the success of the event, more sponsors should be found so that a better program can be organized through more resources.
In the meeting, opinions were sought from the representatives of the industry regarding the organization of the international conference and it was decided to form various committees. The participants of the meeting thanked PU administration, Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi and Dr Noor Khan for the support. They termed the successful event as important for Pakistan's fish industry.
