Cancer Research Centre

Cancer Research Centre | University of the Punjab started working in December 2019. This center is currently located at Dr. Nousheen Zaidi's Lab (Cancer Biology Lab-MMG), equipped with basic cell culture facilities. Our Cell Culture Lab provides the resources for researchers who need cell culture access for their research work. At this facility, high-quality mammalian cell cultures are maintained through routine quality control (QC) testing for mycoplasma, endotoxin, and sterility, and regular cell passage and viability assessment. The facility maintains an extensive inventory of frozen cells of biologically diverse origins. At this facility, different cancer cell lines/models and cell culture systems [2-dimensional (2D) and 3-dimensional (3D)] are available. The following equipment is made available at this lab: Biosafety Cabinet, CO2 Incubators, Inverted Microscope, Temperature-Controlled Centrifuge, Liquid N2 Storage, -20° Freezer, -80° Freezer, Refrigerators, Vacuum Pump and Water Bath. Research work at CRC focuses on understanding the essential pathways/mechanisms of cancer and clinical studies that can be more rapidly beneficial for cancer patients. In addition to that, CRC also promotes cancer research in various critical ways—by encouraging collaboration across various PU departments/institutes, organizing lecture series/workshops/other events, and building academic linkages with other national/international institutes on cancer.
