LAHORE : (Monday, May 23, 2011): Middlesex University , UK Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof Waqar Ahmad and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr R Gill visited the Punjab University to discuss mutual collaboration and met Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran in his office committee room here on Monday. Director External Linkages Maria Maldonado has arranged the meeting. Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar, Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Prof Dr Muhammad Hafeez, Prof Dr Javed Ahmed, Prof Dr Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal, Prof Dr Shahida Hasnain, Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar and Col (R) Ikramullah were also present.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran welcomed the dignitaries and briefed them about various departments, ongoing academic, research and PhD programmes, and improvement of PU position in HEC ranking, recently.

Deputy VC Middlesex University Prof Waqar Ahmad, while appreciating the research activities of PU, said Middlesex University values the relations and mutual collaboration with varsities of other countries. He said as many as six thousand Pakistani students have completed their education at Middlesex University in few years. He wished to extend students and faculty exchange programme in various areas with the Punjab University . He also apprised the participants about the academic activities being carried out at Middlesex University .

Prof Dr Shahida Hasnain stressed the need to work mutually on research projects and student exchange programme in various fields of science. Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar suggested collaboration in specialization in various areas of psychology and video conferencing. Prof Dr Mansoor Sarwar asked about the IT related programmes being offered at Middlesex University and scholarship programme. Prof Dr Muhammad Hafeez said it was an opportunity to enhance faculty development and students exchange programme with the Middlesex University .

Prof Waqar Ahmad said collaboration in the field of criminology could be established. He also appreciated the efforts of Director External Linkages Maria Maldonado.
