Furqan Hashmi graduated in 2000, Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharmacy) from the University College of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He started his professional career as a community pharmacist in a private organization and later, joined the Children's Hospital, Lahore. Afterward he went for master degree from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia in 2003. On returning Pakistan, he taught in different Pharmacy institutes and joined Punjab University College of Pharmacy in 2007 as a contract Lecturer. Later he joined as permanent position in the faculty. In 2013, he was selected as a Assistant Professor.
His area of expertise is Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice and to date he has published 33 peer-reviewed publications in reputable national as well as international journals. Currently he is on study leave from the University of the Punjab for pursuing his Doctorate degree at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia. Area of his PhD work is mixed methodology design including both qualitative and quantitative research methods in Pharmacy practice. In addition to the above he had been associated with the Pakistan Pharmacists Association (PPA) as the General Secretary.
