Dr. Nousheen Zaidi earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Eberhard Karls University, Tübingen, Germany, in 2008. Following her doctoral studies, she conducted postdoctoral research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City until 2010. In 2011, Dr. Zaidi joined the Drug Discovery Group, Oncology, at Johnson & Johnson, Belgium, where she focused on tumor metabolism.
In 2012, Dr. Zaidi relocated to the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Punjab University, Lahore. She has also served as the director of the Cancer Research Centre at the University of Punjab since 2019, where her research predominantly revolves around tumor metabolism and various facets of cancer biology.
Dr. Zaidi also served as a visiting scientist at Charité —Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Berlin, from 2017 to 2022. This appointment was supported by the Humboldt Foundation (2017-21) and DAAD (2022), where she worked on a project focused on cancer biology.
In addition to her contributions to cancer research, Dr. Nousheen Zaidi spearheads a significant water quality mapping initiative. Her team has meticulously identified multiple water contamination zones in Lahore and conducted over 1,200 sample tests, yielding vital insights into waterborne illnesses.
Furthermore, Dr. Zaidi oversees operations at the stunting-focused Roshan Clinic and serves as a director for the Action Research Collective, underscoring her commitment to addressing pressing health concerns.
