Dr. Asma Manzoor has completed her PhD in Industrial Biotechnology from Govt. College University Lahore with international training from Teagasc Moorepark, Dairy Product Research Center, Fermoy Co. Cork Ireland. Her PhD project at Teagasc Moorepark, was in the area of Comparative assessment of Probiotic attributes of Lactobacillus Plantarum Strains of Ireland and Pakistan. She is Currently working as Assistant Professor at Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology University of the Punjab Lahore. Her area of Research is Pharmabiotics, Probiotic cultures: health benefits, bioactive metabolite production and host health, Infant gut microbiota: Antimicrobial Peptides and Bacterial Strains that produce them, Influence of Dietary and Environmental Factors on Probiotics: technological aspects, development of functional food, and to develop probiotic formulation both topical and oral as model of biotechnological product development for clinical trial settings. She is currently Principal Investigator of projects "Potential of Lactic acid Bacteria to replace antibiotic for treatment of UTI" funded by HEC and "Characterization of Lactobacillus strains for their functional probiotic attributes (Suppressing growth of liver carcinoma) isolated from vegetables" Funded by Punjab University Lahore. She has also acted as a peer reviewer for international journals BMC Genomics and Microbial Pathogenesis.
She has been serving since last 8 years as Freelance Author and Reviewer of Science Text Books / Workbooks / Practical note books for Grade 9 & 10 with Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Resource person for newly inducted subjects specialist Biology Grade 17 and Master Trainer for Training to District Teacher Educators (DTEs) on lesson planning at Directorate of staff Development Punjab Lahore.
