PU CEES Organized First International Conference on Emerging Trends in Earth and Environmental Sciences ETEES 2017


College of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of the Punjab, Lahore Organized its First International Conference on “Emerging Trends in Earth and Environmental Sciences ETEES 2017” on March 9-10, 2017.

 

The main purpose of this conference was to provide a platform for young researchers and professionals to present their ideas, research and innovation in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences and also address the role of Pakistan regarding the Emerging Technologies to formulate policy guidelines for tackling future environmental issues faced by World particularly in Pakistani scenarios. A number of National and International invited speakers participated in the Conference and they addressed on the various themes of the Conference i.e. Environmental Biology, Applied Hydrology, Climate Change, Sustainable Agriculture, Waste Treatment Technologies, Geomatics & Geology and Sustainable Development, Occupational Health and Safety etc.

 

The opening ceremony of the ETEES 2017 was held on March 9, 2017 in which Mr. Syed Rizwan Mahmood (PM’s Focal Person on Climate Change) participated as Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Zafar Moeen Nasir (Vice Chancellor / Patron in Chief) and Prof. Dr. Sajid Rashid Ahmad (Princiapl, CEES / Patron) welcomed the distinguished guests from various national and international organizations.

 

There were more than 500 participants from various Universities of the country and almost 268 papers were presented in the Conference. The eminent speakers including Dr. Martijn Booij, Dr. Paolo Reggiani, Dr. Bettina Muller, Dr. Erick Bongcam Rudloff, Dr. Shahid Manzoor, Dr. Asif Khan, Dr. Muhammad Akram, Dr. Farhat Abbas, Dr. Kausar Jamal Cheema, Dr. Arifa Tahir and others presented their scientific ideas in this conference.

 

At the closing ceremony of the ETEES 2017 on March 10, 2017 Mrs. Zakia Shahnawaz (Provincial Minister Population and Welfare / Environment) and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nizam ud Din (Chief Guests), Prof. Dr. Zafar Mueen Nasar (Patron in Chief) and Prof. Dr. Sajid Rashid Ahmad (Patron) addressed the audience and gave their concluding remarks on the importance of the Conference.
