Revised Eligibility Criteria for Admission in M.Phil. and Ph.D/ Programs in Special Education |
M.Phil
|
1. |
M.A./ M.Ed. +B.Ed./BS (Hons.) degree or its equivalent in the relevant subject from a recognized University (16 years of education; 130 credit hours) as per HEC and PU rules. |
2. |
No 3rd. division in the educational career. |
Ph.D.
|
The minimum requirement for admission to Ph.D. program is BS (or equivalent) degree. All applicants from the discipline of Social Sciences are eligible to apply in PhD in Special Education as per DDPC decision. |
Testing Requirement |
1. |
All applicants to M.Phil and Ph.D programs in Special Education are required to pass ONE of the following non-subject specific admission test: |
i. |
The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test administered by the Education Testing Service; |

OR |
ii. |
A graduate admission test administered by the Education Testing Council; |
|
OR |
iii. |
An equivalent GRE test developed by the department concerned. |
2. |
Two Entry Tests will be conducted as per Date, Time and Venue given in the Advertisement by the departments: |
Entry Test-1
Entry Test for candidates holding BS 4 years or its equivalent degrees.
For M.Phil passing marks are 50%
For PhD passing marks are 70%
However, separate applications for online admission are required for MS/M.Phil and PhD program. |
Entry Test-II
Entry Test for candidates holding MS/M.Phil or its equivalent degrees
For PhD passing marks are 70% |

3. |
Merit Lists of PhD will be made separately as per following criteria: |
i. |
For BS or equivalent degree holders. |
ii. |
For MS, M.Phil or equivalent degree holders. |

The students aspiring for test must bring the photocopies/ original documents while at the time of test. |

The test results will be announced later after verification of educational testimonials and bank draft along with other pre-requisites subject to admission policies of Punjab University. |
