MISSION STATEMENT Provide quality education and promote research on Pakistan through developing skills of critical thinking and reasoning among the students. ABOUT US Pakistan Study Centre, University of the Punjab was established in 1981 and has been functioning as an independent unit since March 2003. The main objective of the Centre is to promote and undertake research on themes relating to history, politics, foreign affairs, economy, culture and languages of Pakistan. The Centre has been publishing original studies on Pakistan in the shape of books and monographs. A bi-annual, peer reviewed research journal ‘Pakistan Vision’ has also been published on a regular basis. The journal has been attracting attention of eminent and young scholars from home and abroad who have been contributing original research articles. The Centre has been arranging international and national conferences, seminars, special lectures, round-table discussions on matters of national and international importance. Training Workshops and in-house discussions have also been the regular feature of the Centre. Scholars and academicians of national and international repute are invited to deliver lectures on days of national importance and under the guest in-town series. The Centre has been running two teaching programmes; M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes (Pakistan Studies) since 2005 & 2008 respectively. The Centre is collaborating in research with various educational institutions at national and international levels. The Centre has signed MoUs with various Universities which include joint research agreements and exchange of faculty and research students. The agreement of cooperation with international Universities include three Chinese, German, Italian, Russian and Polish Universities. Two Universities of China i.e. Sichuan University and Jiangsu Normal University have established branches of their own Belt and Road Institutes at the Centre. The Centre established a "Kashmir Cell" in 2015 Inaugurated by the then worthy P.M. of AJK. Uptill now the Centre has published 55 books and monographs. The Centre has a reference library with a collection of more than eleven thousand books. Selected research journals, local and foreign are also available in the library.
