PU SCS organizes cake cutting ceremony of 21st anniversary of FM 104.6


LAHORE: (Monday, June 5, 2023): Punjab University School of Communication Studies organized a cake-cutting ceremony of 21st anniversary of FM 104.6 here on Monday. PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Station Director of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Javed Akhtar, former program Manager Radio Pakistan Dr Mustafa Kamal, Director SCS Prof Dr Noshina Saleem, Chairperson Department of Public Relations and Advertising Prof Dr Abida Ashraf, Chairperson Department of Development Communication Dr Ayesha Ashfaq, Radio Coordinator Dr Akram Somroo, Program Manager PUFM 104.6 Muhammad Irshad Chaudhry, In-charge PUTV Center Dr Shabbir Sarwar, faculty members and a large number of students were present.
In his address, Dr Khalid Mahmood congratulated the faculty members, students and employees of the School of Communication Studies on the completion of 21 years of radio. He said that the history of radio is very old and its importance cannot be denied even in modern times. He said that PUFM has been playing a dynamic role in promoting education and research and creating awareness among students on various issues. He said that PUFM radio has become a tool for training students along with education. He said that PUFM needs to be improved further as per modern demands of the market. Mr Javed Akhtar said that the work of students in PUFM Radio is commendable. He hoped that the students who learn from here will use positive skills in the media to make the name of their institution shine. Dr Mustafa Kamal said that even in today's era, the role of radio is important for the establishment of peace at the global level. Dr Noshina Saleem said that our senior teachers planted the sapling of PU Radio Center which has become a fruitful tree today and many creative programs are going on. Dr Akram Somroo said that people think that radio is dead but today podcast is its modern form. Muhammad Irshad Chaudhry discussed the performance of PU Radio Center. Later, the 21st birthday cake of PU Radio Center FM 104.6 was cut.
