Pakistan’s development linked with rulers’ interest: Ejaz ul Haq LAHORE: (Saturday, September 07, 2013): Pakistan Muslim League Zia chief Mr Ejaz ul Haq has said that Pakistan will not become a developed country unless we have the rulers who and their sons are ready to live or die for the sake of Pakistan and whose all interests are associated with the betterment of the country. He was addressing a special sitting organized at Committee Room of the Undergraduate Study Centre at Punjab University on Saturday. PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran, Lord Nazir Ahmed, senior analysts Hassan Nisar, Prof Hasan Askari Rizvi, Air Marshal (r) Shahid Lateef, former foreign secretary Shamshad Ahmed Khan, General (r) Sikander Afzal, General (r) Javed, Brig (r) Farooq Hameed, Brig (r) Nadir Mir, Col (r) Ikramullah Khan, Prof Dr Shaukat Ali, Director Planning and Development Tariq Majeed Qureshi, Dr Amir Ejaz, renowned intellectual and politician Chaudhry Muhammad Akram were also present on the occasion. Mr Ejaz ul Haq said that decisions regarding Pakistan were being taken abroad and our rulers just implemented them. He said that our rulers were completing their tenures in government under 5-year agreements turn by turn. He said that how Pakistan’s destiny could change when we congratulate them on the cruelty that happened in 2008? He said that Pakistani rulers must keep the interests of Pakistani nation on priority while taking decisions. He said that the situation of Pakistan could not improve in the result of pre-decided elections of 2008 and 2013. He said that change did not occur through routine APCs. Lord Nazir said that we must respect people from all religions and every walk of life to improve society’s situation. He said that dialogue with any country should be on equal footings. He said that the ministers from Azad Kashmir must be invited to APC. Dr Mujahid Kamran said that around 750 verses of holy Quran, which is 1/8 of the holy book, stressed on resolving the mysteries of universe, which reflected that how much important the knowledge was before Allah. He said that knowledge was the source of power and respect but no nation could become knowledgeable without the strength of character. Hasan Nisar said that the real challenge for Pakistan was terrorism and character building instead of corruption, drones and foreign debts. He said that our nation lacked education and training. Prof Hassan Askari said that Pakistan must be made stronger internally to cope with all challenges the country was facing. He said that Pakistan’s economy could not improve unless we control religious extremism and Taliban. Shamshad Ahmed Khan said that Pakistani nation lacked unity and when we were united 48 years ago, we conquered our enemy. He said that the US had arrived in Central Asia to strengthen its grip over the region and the US was not leaving in 2014. Brig (r) Nadir Mir termed the US responsible for situation in Middle East. He said that India and Israel were deteriorating situation in Karachi and Balochistan. General (r) Shahid Latif said that there was a need of good leadership to boost the nation’s morale.
