PU organizes Sufiana/Arifana kalam and national songs competitions


Lahore: (Wednesday, May 21, 2014): Punjab University Directorate of Students Affairs has organized Interdepartmental Singing Competition 2014 at Centre for Undergraduate Studies’ Al-Raazi Hall in which students from various departments participated. On this occasion, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Dean Faculty Economics & Management Sciences Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Director Students Affairs Shahid Mehmood Gul, Deputy Director Zubair Akram, faculty members and a large number of students were present.

Almost 70 students presented Sufiana/Arifana Kalam of renowned sufi poets Baba Fareed, Mian Muhammad Baksh, Baba Bullhe Shah & others and national songs with zeal. Salim Bazmi, Wajahat Attre and Israr Chishti were the jury members of competitions. In National Songs Competition students including Ayesha Anwar from Department of Space Science got 1st position, Mehr-un-Nisa from College of Pharmacy grabbed 2nd position and Hafiz Shaista Tanveer from Department of Business Administration Gujranwala Campus & Umer Hayat from PU Law College jointly got 3rd position. In Sufiana/Arifana Kalam competitions Ghufran Chishti from College of Art & Design got 1st position, Ali Hassan Raza from Institute of Communication Studies grabbed 2nd position, Sanha Ghous from Hailey College of Banking & Finance got 3rd position while Qasim Ali from Law College Gujranwala Campus clinched appreciation award. Later Dr Ehsan Malik distributed cash awards, prizes, shields and appreciation certificates among successors. On this occasion the students who had shown outstanding performances in Interdepartmental Qiraat, Naat and Quiz Competitions 2013-14, also are being awarded with prizes. Directorate of Students Affairs is also organizing Interdepartmental Bilingual Declamation Contest on Thursday (today) at 9am at Centre for Undergraduate Studies’ Al-Raazi Hall.
