Supply Chain & Logistics Management

Objectives:
After completing this course, the student will be able to:
1. Understand importance and basic concepts of supply chain
2. Analyze various supply chain choices and scenarios
3. Design supply chain for achieving efficiency and integration

Contents:
Introduction to supply chain and logistics management, supplier selection, procurement management, forecasting models like moving average, exponential smoothing and causal methods, aggregate planning models, deterministic inventory models like economic order quantity and its special cases, newsvendor model, probabilistic inventory models, and transportation models. logistics strategy, models for facility location decision, facilities layout design, logistic network design, controlling material flow, warehousing and material handling, use of IT in logistics, reverse logistics, 3PL, 4PL, InCoTerms, different parties involved in import and export, and efficient use of transportation. This course aims to convey the intuitions behind many logistics concepts and to demonstrate the application of operations research techniques to this area.
