Dr Shazia calls for breaking social taboos to fight breast cancer

LAHORE: (Tuesday, November 10, 2015): Punjab University Law College Principal Dr Shazia Qureshi has said that there is need to break social taboos to fight diseases like breast cancer. She was addressing an awareness seminar on breast cancer organized by PU College of Earth and Environmental Sciences (CEES) here on Tuesday. CEES Principal Prof Dr Sajid Rashid, Jinnah Hospital’s Head of Psychological Medicine Department, Dr Rubina Aslam, faculty members and a large number of male and female students were present on the occasion.

Addressing the seminar, Dr Shazia Qureshi said that we must face the fact instead of hiding it as problems could not be solved unless we faced them. She said that the awareness campaigns against such diseases in the western countries wherein men had been involved had met success. She said that it would be good for all the segments of society to create awareness about women’s rights. Dr Rubina Aslam said that we could fight diseases in a better way if we were strong mentally.
