IntroductionI am an Assistant Professor at Department of Political Science, University of the Punjab and a PhD in International Relations. I am also an author of the book titled ‘Escalation Patterns in South Asia: Future of Credible Minimum Deterrence’. I was awarded a Certificate of Merit in Academic Excellence for Master’s in Strategic and Nuclear Studies from the National Defense University, Islamabad.
My research area is structured around understanding global security and deterrence norms as well as strategic dispositions of states engaged in nuclear deterrence. I frequently write on the subject matter concerning nuclear deterrence, escalation and de-escalation dynamics in crises, nuclear warfare and warfighting, global activity of major powers triggering fallouts on deterrence stability and deterrence equilibrium, security dilemma dynamics and crisis termination dynamics of South Asia. My completed research projects and incomplete projects are all focused on understanding the relationship between warfare and warfighting dynamics between major powers and nuclear weapons states and its impact on deterrence stability and crisis termination dynamics.
My research interest and areas of research can be divided into four categories:
1. Deterrence strategy and conflict dynamics in South Asia
2. Escalation and De-escalation dynamics concerning nuclear weapon states and their crisis termination mechanisms
3. Impact of nonmilitary posturing on global security (Nontraditional Challenges to Global Security)
4. Role of military modernization campaigns including emerging technologies
Besides formal research activities, I also frequently contribute opinion/expert analyses to national forums such as Center for Security, Strategy and Policy Research (CSSPR) via their magazine Pakistan Politico, Center for Strategic and Contemporary Research (CSCR), Strategic Foresight for Asia (STRAFASIA), Eurasia Review, Center for Research in Maritime Affairs (CRIMA), Daily Times Pakistan and Modern Diplomacy on areas mentioned above.
