Dr. Shahid is working as a Chairman/Associate Professor for the Department of Data Science, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Previously He was working as a Postdoc researcher / guest researcher at the Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology; Bioenergi, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden. He earned his PhD in the emerging field of Bioinformatics from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden. Previously he did MS in Bioinformatics and M.Sc. in Computer Science and B.Sc (Hons) in Plant Breeding & Genetics (PBG). He has more than Seventeen years of teaching/research experience at graduate and postgraduate level and has taught a range of subjects including Introduction to Bioinformatics, Database Design & Management, Database Administration, Distributed Database Systems, Object Oriented Programming and Management Information System. He is a author of a number of research publications in a well reputed International Journals and his areas of research are NGS Data (Assembly, Annotation, Metabolic Pathways Analysis), Computational Biology, Comparative Genomics, R programming, Transcriptomics/Proteomics and Biological Databases. He visited a number of countries to present his research work in the International Conferences and attend workshops/Conferences (Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Iran, Norway, Czech Republic and United states of America (USA).
