Students dramas depict corruption in police, food, health and revenue departments

LAHORE: (Tuesday 24, April 2018): Qiraat, Naat, national songs, drama and paintings contests were held on the second day of 5-day All Pakistan Cocurricular Competitions at various halls of Punjab University.

Drama competitions on the theme of “menace of corruption” held among 14 teams of college/universities and 15 teams of schools at Faisal Auditorium. The competition was dedicated Abdul Sattar Edhi. Students reflected on the corruption being made by doctors, government officials, revenue department and other walks of life.

NAB Lahore Director Syed Muhammad Hasnain Shah represented DG Lahore Saleem Shahzad. Dr Israr Chisti, Dr Ahmed Bilal, Shabbir Sarwar and AR Sajid were also present on this occasion. Addressing on the occasion, he said “The way students are revealing corruption on this stage drama, is the same as corruption is actually happening in our society. Thanks to Punjab University, PHEC and The Educationist newspaper for conducting such dramas and other competitions in 14 categories.”

In Qiraat and Naat were concluded at Waheed Shaheed and Al-Razi Hall respectively with participation from all provinces and Kashmir.

As many as 94 students participated in the national songs competitions and 31 qualified for the final round scheduled to be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at Waheed Shaheed Hall, IER.

On Wednesday (today), competitions of Urdu, English and Punjabi declamations, final round of national songs, cartoon making and photography, both on the education theme.

A total 106 students are participating in Urdu declamation, 86 English and 10 in Punjabi declamation at Al-Razi Hall undergraduate block. The theme of the declamations is corruption.
