PU Library organizes introductory talks on books LAHORE: (Thursday, February 13, 2025): Punjab University Library Book Club organized an insightful program featuring introductory talks on two thought-provoking books: "Nonviolent Communication" by Marshall B. Rosenberg and "Bartanavi Istamariyat: No Abadiyat, Raday Noabadiyat aur Jadidiyat ka Mutalay" (British Colonialism: Neo-colonialism, De-neo-colonialism, and Modernism - A Study) by Dr Muhammad Akmal Somroo. On this occasion, Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani, Institute of Administrative Sciences Assistant Professor Dr Tayyeb Ali Khan, Institute of English Language and Literature Associate Professor Dr Shahzeb Khan, faculty members and students were present. Dr Tayyeb shed light on the ‘Nonviolent Communication’ and explored the principles of empathetic communication as outlined by Rosenberg, emphasizing how compassionate dialogue can resolve conflicts and build meaningful connections. Meanwhile, the discussion on the Urdu book, "Bartanavi Istamariyat", was led by Dr Shahzeb Khan. He presented delved into the complexities of colonialism, neo-colonialism, and modernism, as critically examined by Muhammad Akmal. He also contextualized the historical narrative within contemporary socio-political frameworks, provoking a lively debate among participants about the legacy of colonialism in South Asia.
