Maulana Zafar Ali Khan lauded


LAHORE: (Friday, November 18, 2011): Punjab University’s Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Chair organized one-day national seminar on “Role of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan in Creation of Pakistan” here in the seminar room of Institute of Social & Cultural Studies on Friday. Dean Social & Behavioural Studies Prof Dr Muhammad Hafeez, President Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Chair Prof Dr Zahid Munir Amir, renowned journalist Sajjad Mir, Secretary Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Trust Raja Asad Ali Khan, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Sajjad Mir said that there was some definite purpose of journalism in Maulan Zafar Ali Khan’s period. There was no mixture of commercial benefits like present days. Maulan Zafar Ali Khan used his profession for the purpose of awakening the Muslims to free them from the yoke of the British and the Hindus. He was a great poet and had awakened the Muslims of subcontinent through his poetry.

Prof Dr Muhammad Hafeez said Sajjad Mir has highlighted the role of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan in an impressive manner. He said life was name of learning and we learn all our lives. He said it was a challenge for us how we see our society in cultural frame. He said we have thousands years old culture and we will enjoy strength when we see it in our cultural frame. There was dire need to follow the footsteps of Sufis. He said the purpose of holding seminar was to realize the role and strength of our great grandfathers.

Prof Zahid Munir Amir said Maulana Zafar Ali Khan was a writer, poet, politician and a soft-heart personality. “Zamindar” was a popular newspaper among people from every walk of life. He said Maulana Zafar Ali Khan immediately translated a resolution presented in English language to Urdu. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had highly appreciated the services of Maulana Zafar Ali Khan. He said those nations are nowhere who forgot their history therefore we should remember our past and know who had rendered matchless efforts in the line of freedom. He advised the young researchers to carry out research on the personalities who have devoted their lives for the country.

Raja Asad Ali Khan said Maulana Zafar Ali Khan had played a unique role in getting the Muslims out of British’s fear. He had strong grip on English language. He had not property whole in his life. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran for establishing Maulana Zafar Ali Khan Chair at the varsity. He said the Chief Minister Punjab had granted permission for the establishment of museum at stadium where journalists will have all facilities.
