PU VC kicks off Tree plantation drive


LAHORE: (Friday, August 11, 2023): In connection with the Independence Day celebrations, Punjab University College of Earth & Environmental Sciences (CEES) in collaboration with Rotary Club Lahore Garrison has organized a Tree Plantation Drive. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Acting VC Kamalia University / Principal CEES Prof Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmad, DG University of Management & Technology Abid Khan Sherwani, President Rotary Club G.R. Siddiqui, faculty members and a number of delegates from various organizations including academia, civil society, Government officials and NGOs were present. Dr Mahmood inaugurated the tree plantation campaign by planting the tree at CEES. In his address, the VC said that it was our duty to safeguard natural environment. He urged the teachers and students to plant trees in their surroundings and look after them for their better future. Dr Sajid Rashid welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of trees. He said that it was a must to plant maximum trees for the survival of all living beings on the earth. He said that every Pakistani should participate in the tree plantation drive. Other distinguished guests including Abid Khan Sherwani, Muhammad Kashif, G R Siddiqui and Mrs Mariam Ijaz also planted a number of fruit trees in the lawn of CEES.
