In a ceremony held on 11th October 2023 at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, the Vice-Chancellor University of the Punjab Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood along with Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation Dr. Shahid Mahmood Baig and Director CEMB Prof. Dr. Moazur Rahman, distributed certificates among the researchers for their pioneering work in developing new cotton varieties that are poised to revolutionize Pakistan's agricultural landscape. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood acknowledged and highly appreciated the hard work and efforts of the CEMB researchers who worked tirelessly for decades, day and night, to make this dream come true.
It is worth mentioning here that recently Punjab Seed Council in its 57th Meeting approved transgenic triple gene cotton variety (CKC-05), developed at Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology, for general cultivation in Punjab. CKC-01 and CKC-03 developed at CEMB are already available on the market while CKC-06 is about to be commercialized by Punjab Seed Corporation.
Chairman Pakistan Science Foundation Dr. Shahid Baig congratulated the researchers on their achievement and encouraged them to continue their efforts to develop new technologies and innovations that can benefit Pakistan's economy. The ceremony was celebration of the hard work and dedication of the researchers and their contribution to the development of Pakistan's economy.
