LAHORE: (Tuesday, December 19, 2017): Punjab University Department of English Language and Literature has organized the book launch of Rizwan Akhtar’s first collection of poems “Lahore, I am coming”. The event was attended by a number of poets, writers, academicians and students. Dr. Shireen Raheem presented an insightful critique on Akhtar’s poetry and talked about how the poet’s past configures in his work. Mrs. Iffat Saeed delivered an enriching talk that focused on the female body as a recurring image in his poems. A westernized musical rendering of Akhtar’s Ghazal by the department students added more color to the session. The panel comprising Chairperson Department of English Dr. Amra Raza and Assistant Professor Ms. Ayesha Barque held a discussion with the poet on the intricate relationship between language and culture.
