Islamic, democratic, social state a solution to all problems: Nizami


LAHORE: (Monday, December 03, 2012): Renowned journalist and editor-in-chief of Nawa-i-Waqt group Mr Majid Nizami has said that Islamic, democratic and welfare state was the only solution to all the problems being faced by the country and we could not survive without achieving this goal. He was addressing a luncheon organized in his honor by PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran at Vice Chancellor’s house, New Campus here on Monday. Renowned personalities including renowned political analyst and politician Ch Akram, former DG ISI Lt. Gen (r) Hameed Gul, President CPNE Jamil Atthar, General secretary of Jamait-e-Islami Liaqat Baloch, President of Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari, former deputy speaker Ch Jaffar Iqbal, Central General Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-a-Islam Nazriati Maulana Abdul Qadir Loni, Renowned Journalist Atta ur Rehman, PTI Leader Ashan Rasheed, Hafeez Ullah Niazi, PPP Leader Navid Ch, Vice Chairman Nazria Pakistan Trust Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad, Renowned Columnist Sofia baidar, Renowned Analyst Dr Ajmal Niazi, Shahid Rasheed from Nazria Pakistan Trust, Renowned Legal Expert Dr Khalid Ranjha, MNA & Senior Analyst Bushra Rehman, Renowned Intellectual Prof Dr Shafiq Jallandhury, Renowned Analyst Prof Dr Mujahid Mansoori, Registrar Prof Dr Khan Rass Masood, Member Syndicate Prof Dr Shoukat Ali, Additional Registrar Prof Dr Aurangzeb Alamgir, General Secretary PUASA Javed Sami, Member Syndicate & MPA Khawja Imran Nazir, Vice Chancellor Government College University Prof Dr Khaleeq Ur Rehman, MNA PML(N) Mian Marghoob Ahmad, MPA Mian Nauman and others were present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr Nizami said that some friends were making fun of Pakistan’s ideology and they said that ideology used to change from time to time but that was not so. He said that Pakistan came into existence on the basis of two nations theory and the nation who worshiped idols and the nation who crushed idols could not live together. He said that Quaid-e-Azam had clearly stated that Pakistan would be an Islamic state and our constitution existed since 14 hundred years. He said that people must not accuse Quaid-e-Azam of secularism. He said that we must implement the system of Islam and if Quaid-e-Azam could have found some years after creation of Pakistan, he must have fulfilled his that mission as well. He said that Quaid-e-Azam had said that Pakistan would be of the poor, not of feudal and the rich. Mr Nizami said that the country was not made for Army as the Army was meant for protecting borders which it should do. He said that Baloch would not be happy and satisfied unless the killer of Shaheed Nawab Akber Bugti was punished. He said that Mr Bhutto raised the slogan of bread, cloth and house but practically did nothing for the people. He appealed all the political parties to work for making the country an Islamic, democratic and welfare state because we could not survive without it and that was the only way to again turn Karachi into a city of lights. He said that journalists should not fear while speaking truth to power. Dr Mujahid Kamran said that Mr Majid Nizami was custodian ideology of Pakistan and Nawa-e-Waqt always spoke truth to power. Mr Chaudhry Akram congratulated Mr Nizami and Dr Kamran on honorary PhD degree and requested Mr Majid Nizami for political training of national leaders. He requested him to produce such a leadership in the light of his ideas which could take the country to the new heights rather than destroying the country in the name of politics. He said that Nazria Pakistan Trust could train the new generation for the service of the country. Gen Hameed Gul said that steadfastness was the biggest quality of Mr Nizami. He said that Mr Nizami was a Pole Star, who was showing path to others. Bushra Rehman said that the words of Mr Nizami had the value of a degree. She said that we were living in Nizami’s era and all the senior columnists and analysts had learnt from him. She said that Mr Nizami’s love was Pakistan and Mr Nizami never compromised in the matter of his love. Dr Khalid Ranjha said that the court had termed Mr Nizami as Pakistan in a case and defying him was equal to defying Pakistan. Vice Chairman Nazria Pakistan Trust Dr Rafiq Ahmed said that universities usually awarded honorary degrees to political figures but Dr Kamran had set a new trend by awarding honorary PhD degree to Mr Nizami. He said that Mr Nizami measured up the expectations of Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam as a human being and a journalist. He said that Mr Nizami openly discussed matters in the ages of dictators and did not take packet from any person. He said that establishment of Aiwan-e-Iqbal and the project of Aiwan-e-Quaid-e-Azam could become possible only because of the efforts of Mr Nizami. Nazria Pakistan Trust activist Shahid Rashid said that Mr Nizami always kept the flag of Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam and Fatma Jinnah high. He said Mr Nizami dealt all the rulers with the same tune. He said that Mr Nizami was Mujahid-e-Pakistan and was a source of guidance for the new generation. Dr Ajmal Niazi said that there was only one chief editor in Pakistan and that was Mr Majid Nizami only. Senior analyst Sofia Baidar said that we saluted Mr Nizami’s way of journalism which was example for all others. PPP leader Naveed Chaudhry said that Mr Nizami always spoke truth for which he must be paid tribute. He said that although we had ideological differences with him but we always got proper coverage in his group, which was an example for all the journalists. Senior journalist Atta ur Rehman said that in the first half of 20th century, there were so many editors like Maulana Zafar Ali Khan but in the last half of 20th century and up to now in 21st century, no editor could match the caliber of Mr Nizami. He said that no editor had faced four military dictators as well as civilian dictators in Pakistan except Mr Nizami. Maulana Abdul Qadir Loni, the only speaker from Quetta, Balochistan, said that rumors were being spread regarding Balochistan since 10 years and some powers wanted to separate Balochistan from Pakistan but all such powers would be disappointed and Balochistan would be with Pakistan until the Day of Judgment. He said that the agenda of establishment of Pakistan could keep us united. Mr Chaudhry Jaffer Iqbal said that there was no doubt that Mr Nizami was himself a history and he was serving both the country and its people. He said that the responsibility of Mr Nizami had increased in the present scenario. He said that the country was in dire need of national agenda today and a national government through election or any other suitable mean. He said that the country was in need of the leadership which could bring her out of all these crises. President Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari congratulated Mr Nizami on behalf of Lahori journalists and said that the services rendered by Nawai-e-Waqt group since the establishment of Pakistan were unmatched. JI leader Liaqat Baloch said that Punjab University would be proud of awarding honorary degree to Mr Nizami and he deserved it. He said that statements and announcements could not resolve the issues of Karachi and Balochistan. He said that Balochistan was being deprived of its rights since 65 years and there was lack of confidence. He said that a national Jirga headed by Mr Majid Nizami was need of the hour to resolve Balochistan issue. He said that Dr Kamran was son of a renowned journalist and his decision was really laudable. CPNE President Jamil Ather said that the journalist fraternity deserved applause on the award of honorary degree to Mr Nizami who fulfilled the duty of freedom of Press in all respect. He also thanked Dr Mujahid Kamran on behalf of editors of the country. Later, Dr Kamran presented an album of the honorary PhD awarding ceremony to Mr Nizami. Later, the lunch was served to distinguished guests.
