PU holds workshop on digital library


LAHORE: (Wednesday, April 04, 2012): Punjab University Department of Library and Information Sciences on Wednesday kicked off a two-day workshop titled “HEC Workshop on Developing Master Trainers for HEC-National Digital Library”. PU VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Chairperson Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the event.

Dr Kamran said that the two day workshop would was an opportunity for young librarians and they could learn new things. He said that such workshops should be conducted to promote usage of digital libraries among PhD scholars. He congratulated Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen for taking a good initiative. Dr Ameen emphasized on the importance of the learning of information skills for the advancement of the librarians. The workshop is specifically designed for the PU departmental librarians to enable them to make extensive use of the National Digital Library (NDL) resources for their faculty and researchers as well as transfer these skills to their users. The workshop is jointly sponsored by HEC Learning & Innovation Division and University of the Punjab, Lahore. The Vice Chancellor also inaugurated the newly extended computer lab at the department.
