(Tuesday, December 13, 2011): Punjab University Institute of Education & Research (IER) Assistant Professor, Dr Muhammad Shahid Farooq has earned his 2nd PhD degree in Educational Sciences with distinction (mention tres honorable) from Université Lumière Lyon2, France. He completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof Dr Jean-Claude Règnier. He was awarded scholarship for PhD by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). It is noteworthy that Dr Shahid Farooq has also earned his 1st PhD in Special Education from the Punjab University.

PhD Supervisor Prof. Jean-Claude Règnier has written a letter to PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran in which it is stated that Dr Muhammad Shahid Farooq is ever first in France and may be in the world with two highest degrees (PhDs) in these disciplines. It can rightly be said that he is not only our pride and asset but also for your university and for his country. He said PhD work was evaluated by the worthy professors of US, France and Germany. During his PhD, he proved his abilities to pursue high standard in his research within a minimum duration. He has also numerous research publications to his credit. Besides many opportunities abroad, Dr Shahid had a strong will to serve his country and university i.e. Punjab University.

PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has congratulated Dr Muhammad Shahid Farooq on completion of his 2nd PhD degree with distinction on scholarship from France and said that he is pride of Punjab University. He added that it would help to improve his teaching and research abilities. He said that passion of Dr. Shahid to serve the Punjab University is appreciable.
