Faculty Orientation Programme 2011 concludes at PU

LAHORE: (Friday, July 08, 2011): The concluding and certificate distribution ceremony of 4-day Faculty Orientation Programme 2011 for the new faculty, organized from July 5-8 by Punjab University Institute of Administrative Sciences’ (IAS) Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), held here on Friday. PU Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Javaid Ahmed was the chief guest while Dean Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik, Director IAS Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen, founding Director HRDC Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal Jadoon and faculty members were also present on the occasion. Research scholars, lecturers and assistant professors from various departments participated in the orientation programme.

Addressing the ceremony, acting VC Dr Javaid Ahmed congratulated IAS Director Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen and her team on conducting a successful programme for the faculty. He said such programmes should be conducted on regular basis to help teachers avoid problems. He said such programmes encourage teachers and builds confidence in them.

He asked the teachers to participate in such sessions time and again to improve their skills.

In her welcome address, IAS Director Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen said the objective of the programme was to polish the skills of the fresh faculty and to equip them with the techniques of interpersonal communication, curriculum development, effective teaching methodologies, classroom management, micro-teaching, time management, semester system, mentoring and career counseling, writing a research proposal, information resource management and professionalism and ethics for university teachers. In the end, Dr Javaid Ahmed distributed certificates among the participants.
