A delegation from Pakistan Plastic Manufacturers Association (PPMA-North) visited the Institute of Polymer & Textile Engineering (IPTE), University of the Punjab, Lahore on Jan 31, 2022.

Prof. Dr. Shahzad Maqsood Khan, Director IPTE gave a detailed presentation to explain research and industrial working of the Institute of Polymer and Textile Engineering and discussed the opportunities for mutual collaboration between PMMA and IPTE. Raja Omer Nawaz also presented about the working and services of PPMA. After presentation, a comprehensive discussion was made between PPMA team and IPTE faculty and researchers on research projects, bridging the gap between academia and industry, problem identification and road map analysis for future joint working. Both IPTE and PPMA emphasized and endorsed that strong academia-industrial linkage will be established between IPTE and PPMA.

Meeting finalized with the following points:

Support from IPTE to PPMA and polymer industry in terms of knowledge-sharing, problem solving, testing facilities and new product development

•

Provision of raw materials for projects from PPMA

•

Industrial visits and internships by PPMA to improve & enhance learning for IPTE students

•

Long & short-term projects from Plastic Industry for students of IPTE

•

Startup of short courses in IPTE

•

Proposal for membership of academia in PPMA

•

Collaboration extensions between PPMA-North & Institute of Polymer and Textile Engineering on later stage in shape of MOU

After discussion, PPMA team have a detailed visit of research laboratories of IPTE and appreciated the research facilities available at IPTE. The Director of IPTE, Prof. Dr. Shahzad Maqsood Khan thanked the delegation for visiting IPTE, University of the Punjab.
