Hamza Shahbaz gives away gold medals to toppers during convocation ceremony at Hailey College of Commerce

LAHORE: (Wednesday, February 15, 2012): Punjab University Hailey College of Commerce (HCC) organized Convocation 2011 ceremony in College’s lawn here at New Campus on Wednesday. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over the ceremony while Member National Hamza Shahbaz was the chief guest on the occasion. The ceremony was also attended by MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir, College Principal Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, senior faculty members and a large number of graduating students and their parents.

Addressing the ceremony, Hamzra Shahbaz said it was of immense pleasure day for graduating students that they have completed their degrees but they should not forget their parents and teachers who had prayed and worked hard in this regard. He said Pakistan was a country of 18 crore inhabitants out of which 10 crore were youth.

He said we had spent US $10 billion in war on terror during recent years but we could not control the circumstances. He said if this amount had been spent on youth then conditions would have been other wise. He said the country had been facing serious and difficult issues but it was also the fact that there was solution of all these problems. He said Pakistan’s energy need was 18 to 20 thousand megawatt. Our Baluchistan province was rich in energy reservoirs and coal reservoirs of the country were enough to meet energy demand for 200 years. He said Pakistan was at number three in coal reservoirs, fourth in cotton production and fifth in gold and copper reservoirs. The only issue was sincerity of purpose. He urged the need of taking practical measurers in spite of enjoying talk shows only. Hamzra Shahbaz said his father, before exile, kept him away from political issues and state affairs. NAB started sever trial against us during Musharraf regime and he was forced to sit four four hours on chair. He felt immense pleasure when one day, a NAB officer, told him that not a single penny could be proved against his father as corruption and he told his father on telephone.

He urged that this attitude should be the path of politicians. He said we would have to come out of protocol culture because real respect was only in winning hearts and minds of people. Out parliament should point out and discuss core issues in the house, he added. He said corruption was eating up the resources of country and WAPDA and PIA were badly affected by corruption. He said we should call the engineers working abroad and provide them facilities and appoint them heads of institutions. He said some people talked about change. Was not it a change when motorway was constructed? Was not it a change when Vajpayee visited Minar-e-Pakistan accepted that Kashmir was a dispute? He said Hillary Clinton and David Milliband contacted him on phone at the time of long march and warned that their lives had great threat.

He informed his uncle and he said we would have to accompany people. Resultantly, the judges were restored on the same night. He said US President contacted five times when atomic experiments were taken but we carried out five experiments against four of India. He also announced to talk to Chief Minister for allocation of Rs 10 crore for construction of multi-purpose hall at the College. He also informed the participants about the government’s measures of 4000 IT labs, PEEF, scholarships, establishment of hospitals in Lahore, Gawalmandi Degree College for Women and distribution of laptops.

In his address, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran congratulated the graduating students and complemented their parents and teachers. He stated that the subjects taught at the College had deep relevance to the economy of the nation and to the global scenario. He said all recent wars waged by the US were about money and wealth. The US government was carrying out policies in the interests of an international banking cabal that did not care for human life. The New World Order and One World Government was an alternate name for the undiluted dictatorship of the international banking families. He said that the bankers had foreclosed 8.5 million American homes rendering millions homeless. He said that the banking system based on usury was the root cause of the present global scenario. He said usury was forbidden by Islam as well as Christianity and the international financial system was erected on inhuman principles. He called upon the outgoing students to make it a goal of their life to excel in financial knowledge with the object of liberating humanity from the clutches of the inhuman One World cabal.

In his welcome address, Prof Dr Liaqat Ali appreciated the steps taken by the Chief Minister Punjab for the promotion of education and presented performance report of the College.

Earlier, Hamza Shahbaz and Dr Mujahid Kamran distributed medals among the top position holders.
