LAHORE: (Tuesday, January 07, 2014): Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has approved Astro turf for Punjab University Old Campus ground for promotion of hockey in Pakistan. In this regard, President Hockey Federation Akhter Rasool called on PU Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran at his office and informed him about the step taken by the government.

PU Director Sports Prof Dr Mansoor Sarwar was also present on the occasion. Dr Mujahid Kamran said that Mian Shahbaz Sharif was taking right initiatives to incline young generation to healthy and positive activities. He said that a large number of players would benefit from the decision as the ground had a splendid tradition of producing renowned Olympians.
