One day Symposium on EMERGING ISSUES OF MULTIDRUG RESISTANCE: A Threat to the Globe

Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics in collaboration with Higher Education Commission and Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Society of Pakistan organized One day Symposium on EMERGING ISSUES OF MULTIDRUG RESISTANCE: A Threat to the Globe on 2nd October, 2014 at Al-Razi Hall, Centre for Undergraduate studies, University of the Punjab.
 
 
The main aim of the symposium was to create awareness about the consequences of indiscriminate use of antibiotics, especially multiple drug resistance in bacteria. Prof. Dr. Aamir Ijaz, Director ORIC was the chief guest at the event. In his address, Dr Ijaz highlighted the need of such seminars and asks participants to take maximum benefits from the talks.
 
 
He also describes roles and achievements of ORIC in University of the Punjab. Chairperson, Prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri welcomes the guests and the participants. Later she briefly presented the ongoing research work about drug resistance in the MMG department. Among other speakers, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood from (University of Lahore), Dr. Maha Tahir (University of Lahore), Dr. Shala Latif (SIMS, Lahore), Dr. Atiqa Ambreen (Gulab Devi Hospital) and Dr. Saba Riaz (MMG, PU) presented their research work on the topic.
 
 
Prof. Dr. Shahida Hasnain, VC, The Women University Multan gave the concluding speech and later awarded certificates to the best posters. The symposium was attended by large number of researcher and students.
