First International Conference on Statistics and Operations Research–2006

The Institute of Statistics, University of the Punjab, Lahore was founded in 1952, being the premier institution of higher education in Statistics & Operation Research in Pakistan is promoting, imparting and acquiring the traditional as well as nontraditional knowledge & research through conferences, teaching and learning.
To achieve the goal of reinforcing scientific and technological collaboration between the foreign and Pakistani scholars at a very high level, in a move to develop sustainable scientifically-based strategies, the Institute of Statistics under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Dr. Shahid Kamal, Director, Institute of Statistics and Conference Chairman successfully hold ‘The First International Conference on Statistics & Operations Research – 2006' from April 3 – 5, 2006 at Lahore.

The honorable Governor Punjab, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Khalid Maqbool inaugurated the Conference and delivered a full of ideas oriented and praise-worthy speech. The worthy Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (R) Arshad Mehmood, preside over the inaugural session. Dr. Akram M. Chaudhry, a renowned Professor of University of Bahrain participated as Keynote speaker. National and International Research Scholars participated and presented almost 48 quality research papers on theoretical, methodological, and applied contributions that advance the knowledge of Statistics, Probability, Biostatistics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Risk Management.
