The Department of Physics at the University of the Punjab is proud to announce the official launch of the Punjab University Physics Alumni Association (PUPAA) — a global platform that celebrates and connects the brightest minds to emerge from our halls. Our alumni are among the department’s greatest assets, advancing knowledge and technology at institutions such as NASA, CERN, and renowned universities and research centers across the world.

The PUPAA is envisioned as a vibrant and enduring community where our graduates can stay connected with one another and with their academic roots. It will serve as a space to celebrate achievements, share success stories, and inspire current students as they explore and build their own careers. This association will be a cornerstone for mentorship, collaboration, and innovation, echoing the department’s legacy of excellence and its forward-looking mission.

As we build this bridge between past and present, we invite our alumni to contribute their insights and experiences to help shape the future of our academic programs. Your intellectual and material support can play a critical role in ensuring that our curriculum and research remain aligned with the latest global developments in physics, technology, and interdisciplinary sciences. To honor the exceptional accomplishments of our alumni and encourage excellence among our students, we are pleased to introduce the following annual awards:

Lifetime Achievement Award – Celebrating alumni whose lifelong contributions to science and society reflect distinction and impact.

•

Mid-Career Excellence Award – Recognizing accomplished alumni who are in the mid-stages of their careers (10–25 years post-graduation), and have demonstrated sustained excellence, leadership, and contribution to their fields.

Outstanding Young Alumni Award – Recognizing emerging leaders among our recent graduates (within 10 years of graduation) who demonstrate exceptional promise and achievement.

•

Alumni Award for Best Course Work (CGPA) – Acknowledging outstanding academic performance. Awards will be given separately to BS, MS/MPhil, and PhD students.

•

Alumni Award for Best Research Paper of the Year – Highlighting exceptional undergraduate or graduate research contributions. This award will involve a competitive presentation of the shortlisted research papers, and will be awarded separately to BS, MS/MPhil, and PhD students.

All awards will be presented annually at a special alumni gathering.

We are also excited to host an Annual Alumni Dinner, offering a meaningful opportunity for our community to reunite, reminisce, and reflect. This event will serve as a space to foster friendships, exchange ideas, and strengthen bonds across generations of physicists.
