LAHORE: (Wednesday, September 2, 2026): Punjab University spokesperson has strongly condemned the alleged violence by members of the divided Joint Action Committee, who, following the failure of their protest, forced their way into the office of an admin officer who had boycotted the strike and subjected the employee to violence. The Punjab University spokesperson said that a few protesting employees forcibly entered the office and subjected Javed Anwar, Administrative Officer of the Affiliation Branch, who was performing his official duty, to violence. The spokesperson strongly condemned the incident, stating that violent protests cannot be permitted under any circumstances. The spokesperson said that strict disciplinary action would be taken against those involved in the violence. He said that the administration had shown considerable restraint by overlooking what he described as the committee’s baseless protests and false propaganda. He added that, after their false propaganda and negative campaign were rejected, a specific group resorted to violence. He further stated that it is the administration’s responsibility to ensure the safety and security of teachers and employees who are performing their duties. Regarding the alleged attack on the Inquiry Office outside Faisal Auditorium, the spokesperson said that it was a “drama” and claimed that the divided Joint Action Committee was now staging the incident to avoid legal action. He said that complete CCTV footage of the road outside the Inquiry Office is safely preserved by the university’s security department. According to the spokesperson, the CCTV footage from around 12:30 p.m. does not show any motorcycle-riding attackers anywhere, contrary to the allegations. He further said that, according to the security report, three individuals broke bricks at the rear of the Inquiry Office. The spokesperson reiterated that action would be taken against all individuals involved in violence at the university, without exception. Tweet Follow @pu_lhr_official |
