PU organizes seminar and debate competition

LAHORE: (Tuesday, April 29, 2014): Punjab University Department of Economics in collaboration with Qazi Muhammad Fareed Memorial Society organizes a seminar on “Don’t Ask the Poor to Make Sacrifices” theory advocated by Prof Qazi Muhmmad Fareed (Late) and debate competition among students at Al-Raazi Hall. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Chairman Department of Economics Prof Dr Hafeez ur Rehman, Chairman Muhammad Fareed Memorial Society Qazi Humayun Fareed, former Ambassador Iqbal Ahmed, economists, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mujahid Kamran said that students must read books of other subjects and co-curricular literature. He said that distance from education was the only reason behind the downfall of the Muslims. He said that the subject of economics was much important in the present scenario and economists could play role for strengthening the economy of the country. He congratulated Dr Muhammad Hafeez-ur-Rehman and others for organizing a healthy activity for students’ training. Dr Hafeez said that the problems and poverty ratio of our country were increasing due to incorrect use of resources and there was need to take steps in this regard. A debate competition was also organized in which students spoke on “Don’t Ask the Poor to Make Sacrifices”. Ms. Hina, Syed Usman and Muhammad Sajjad won first, second and third positions and received cash prizes of Rs 35,000, 25,000 and 15,000 respectively. Tweet Follow @pu_lhr_official |
