Chairman and Former Chairman of Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) visit Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology


Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Chairman of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, and Dr. Yusuf Zafar (TI), Former Chairman of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, paid a visit to the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) on August 25, 2023. The purpose of their visit was to engage in discussions with the senior faculty of CEMB regarding the importance of research in the fields of agriculture and health biotechnology. During the meeting, Dr. Yusuf Zafar emphasized the need for research aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, considering Pakistan's population, which has now reached 241 million. He stressed the significance of addressing food security challenges through research and development in agriculture and animal biotechnology. The visit of both the Chairman and the Former Chairman of the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council to CEMB underscores the importance of collaboration between research institutions and government bodies in tackling critical issues related to food security and sustainable development. On this occasion, Director CEMB, Prof Dr. Moazur Rahman, gave a briefing to the esteemed guests about the ongoing research in agriculture and health sectors at the Centre. Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali commended the efforts of the researchers at CEMB and highlighted the need for government policymakers to recognize and acknowledge their contributions. He also extended his congratulations to the researchers at CEMB on the approval received from the Punjab Seed Council for the cultivation of the CEMB CKC-05 cotton variety. The visit of Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali and Dr. Yusuf Zafar to CEMB highlights the importance of research institutions and government bodies working hand in hand to address the pressing challenges of food security and sustainable development in the country.
