PU Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Wins 7 projects at innovation expo


LAHORE: (Wednesday, November 22, 2023): Punjab University Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering has won 7 out of 13 projects shortlised by Punjab Higher Education Commission in Innovation Expo 2023. The PHEC has arranged the "All Punjab Universities Innovation Expo 2023" to provide a platform for tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurial minds, particularly among teachers and students, to showcase their creative research and innovations to industry experts, business professionals, investors, and the general public. The event featured participants from over 40 universities from Punjab province presenting their innovative projects. Out of the 13 projects shortlisted by PHEC from the University of the Punjab, 7 hailed from the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (IMME). A research team led by Prof. Dr. Mohsin Ali Raza, Director IMME, alongside Dr. Zaeem Ur Rehman and Umar Latif, a PhD scholar, presented the project titled "In situ growth of nickel ammonium phosphate ribbons on nickel foam for supercapacitor applications." This project secured the first position, earning a cash prize of Rs. 100,000 in the mechanical/electronics/civil/metallurgy/industrial/mechatronics engineering category. The winning project aimed at developing an efficient electrode material for supercapacitors, addressing the high demand for energy storage devices in renewable energy applications while offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional batteries. Later, Chancellor / Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman presented the first position award to Dr Mohsin Ali Raza
