LAHORE: (Thursday, March 14, 2024): A focus group on "Practical Training of Journalism Students" was conducted by the UNDP trainer Dr. Yasir Masood and In-charge Punjab University TV Center Dr. Shabbir Sarwar. The focus group discussion was based on four major topics including, fact check, practical training, innovation and research. What means should be used to check fake news? Do journalism students get practical training and what kind of change is needed to produce a better journalist? How changes in journalism institutions due to adoption of innovations affected research activity there?
These topics were covered in the focus group. The duration of the session was two hours, the students recorded their feedback for research on the subject. UNDP trainer Dr. Yasir said that in the second phase, data will be collected from a focus group of teachers to prepare the curriculum. Dr. Shabbir Sarwar said curriculum change was inevitable keeping in view development and the media and information technology. He thanked UNDP for including Department of Journalism in the process of data collection for curriculum designing. At the end, certificates were given to the students.
