Successful Conclusion of 2-Day Real-Time PCR Workshop at CEMB


April 25, 2024: The Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) marked the successful conclusion of its 2-day Hands-on training workshop on Real-Time PCR, underscoring a significant stride in advancing nucleic acid quantification expertise in Pakistan. The closing ceremony, held today at the CEMB facility, witnessed esteemed guests and participants from various institutes across the nation.

Professor Anjum Nasim Sabri, chairperson of Institute of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Punjab university Lahore graced the occasion as the guest of honor, alongside Mr. Sajid Iqbal Sindhu, CEO of Green Circle. The presence of distinguished faculty members and participants added depth and diversity to the event.

Dr. Samia Afzal, the focal person, provided an overview of the workshop's activities over the two-day period, highlighting its importance in fostering expertise in Real-Time PCR. She mentioned that participants selected for the training were from participants from renowned institutes such as Neuro-Molecular Medicine Research Center Peshawar, Islamia College Peshawar, Kinnaird College for women University, Superior University, Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Government College University Lahore.

Prof. Moazur Rahman, Director of CEMB, emphasized the workshop's significance in advancing molecular biology techniques, particularly in establishing laboratories for certifying agricrops and foods, addressing a pressing need in the country. During the ceremony, participants shared insights gleaned from the enriching workshop sessions.
Mr. Sajid Iqbal Sandhu underscored the burgeoning importance of genetic engineering in the coming century and encouraged participants to consider entrepreneurship, particularly in agri-entrepreneurship, leveraging their newfound expertise in Real-Time PCR. He lauded CEMB's contributions to the country's economy and highlighted initiatives by Green Circle aimed at skill development among students, including kitchen gardening programs in government schools.
Prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri commended the participants and organizers, recognizing CEMB's pivotal role in enhancing Punjab University's QS ranking. She expressed optimism for future workshops, envisioning their continued impact on molecular biology advancements nationwide.
The event culminated with the distribution of souvenirs to participants and organizers, symbolizing appreciation for their contributions. The ceremony served as a testament to the success of the 2-day hands-on training workshop, setting the stage for further advancements in molecular biology within Pakistan.
