PU pays tribute to Dr Raghib Naeemi


LAHORE: (Monday, May 06, 2024): Punjab University Institute of Islamic Studies (IIS) organized a ceremony for its great alumnus Allama Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi on receiving the Sitara-e-Imtiaz from the Government of Pakistan. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Dean Faculty of Islamic studies Prof Dr Muhammad Hammad Lakhvi, faculty members and students were present. Addressing the ceremony, the VC Dr Khalid Mahmood paid tribute to the services of Allama Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Head of Jamia Naeemia. He said that it is a debt on us to pay tribute to the services of Dr Raghib Naeemi. He said that Dr Raghib Naeemi has given a lot of time for the betterment of Pakistani institutions, which is commendable. He said that Dr Raghib Naeemi and his family have rendered great sacrifices to create unity among Muslims. He said that the life of Dr Raghib Naeemi is a bright example for all of us. He said that Allama Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi has completed his PhD from the Department of Islamic Studies, Punjab University and is also a member of several committees including the Syndicate, Selection Board. Allama Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi said that it is a great honor to receive recognition from his mother institute. He said that the journey of success of Jamia Naeemia started with his grandfather Maulana Hussain Naeemi. He said that the blood and sweat of Maulana Hussain Naeemi is in the foundations of Jamia Naeemia. He said that Maulana Hussain Naeemi and Maulana Sarfraz Naeemi raised their voices in front of the oppressive rulers and endured the hardships of imprisonment. He said that Maulana Hussain Naeemi and Maulana Sarfraz Naeemi promoted inter-religious harmony. He said that Maulana Sarfraz Naeemi was martyred for giving a fatwa against Tehreek-e-Taliban terrorism. He stressed dealing with everyday affairs with moderation and sincerity. He said that Jamia Naeemia has produced more than 1,000 Dars-e-Nizami graduates while 15 muftis have also graduated from Jamia Naeemia. He said that moderation is being promoted through Jamia Naeemia. He said that he is very thankful to the PU Institute of Islamic Studies due to which he achieved various milestones of his life. Prof Dr Muhammad Hammad Lakhvi said that Allama Dr Raghib Hussain Naeemi's services for religion cannot be forgotten. He said that he is grateful to the VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood for his support in hosting the event. He said that getting Sitara-e-Imtiaz to a former student of PU IIS is a matter of pride for the institution.
