LAHORE — Punjab University (PU) scripted a historic chapter in its cricketing journey by clinching a thrilling three-wicket victory against Sports Board Punjab in their opening fixture of the PCB President’s Trophy Grade-II Silver (2026-27) tournament.
This achievement marks the very first time in history that the is competing in the prestigious Grade-II tournament, an elite division featuring only six selected teams.
Following the historic triumph, Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Ali extended his heartiest congratulations to the squad, stating, "Competing in Grade-II and securing a victory in the opening match is an immense achievement for Punjab University." He expressed profound gratitude to Mohsin Naqvi and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for providing high-level competitive platforms for student-athletes. Director of Sports Dr. Shabir Sarwar emphasized that fulfilling the students' dream of playing top-tier cricket would have been impossible without the Vice Chancellor's absolute backing. He also lauded management members Atiq Khan, Faisal Pirzada, and the University Cricket Board for their tireless support.
