Lahore (15th October 2026): The ASM International Student Chapter, Institute of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics (IMMG), University of the Punjab, organized workshop/contest "ASM Agar Art Workshop/Contest." The session was held at Institute of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM, and was participated/attended by a large number of students/researchers, and young professionals from across Pakistan (around 130 registrants).

The event started at 09:00 AM with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and was inaugurated by Director institute of MMG Prof. Dr. Muhammad Faisal.

The event proceeded with microbial art exhibition where participants created agar art based on the theme “Microbial Postcards.” A panel of judges evaluated the entries on the basis of criteria: creativity, presentation, and thematic relevance.

After exhibition, Faculty Advisor ASM International student chapter team, Dr. Imran Sajid introduced the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and the ASM Student Chapter team.

Dr. Mehboob Ahmed, Dr. Noman, and Dr. Tahir also spoke on how agar art merges scientific knowledge of microbial behavior with artistic expression.

Chief guest, Dean of Faculty Life Sciences, Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri addressed students on the event’s theme. Following this, the competition results were announced, with cash prizes awarded to the top three winners, Rs. 6,000, Rs. 4,000, and Rs. 3,000 respectively, for their creativity and technical skill. Certificates were distributed to previous ASM Chapter members. Participants and attendees. The event concluded with a tea break/ refreshment.
