PU, ACCA signs MoU


LAHORE: (Tuesday, March 18, 2014): Punjab University and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance collaboration between the both organizations. In this regard, a ceremony was held at committee room of the Vice Chancellor’s office in which PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran, Registrar Prof Dr Amind Ather, Director External Linkages Assistant Prof Dr Maria Maldonado, ACCA President Martin Turner, ACCA Executive Director Stephen Heathcote, Dean Faculty of Commerce Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Dean Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Principal PUCIT Prof Dr Mansoor Sarwar and senior faculty members were present on the occasion. As a result of the MoU, ACCA will assist the university in modernizing its accounting and finance curriculum. On the basis of improvements in the curriculum ACCA will also offer exemptions to the various relevant programmes of the university.

 

PU and ACCA will work closely to gain benefit from ACCA’s research & Insights, scholarships offerings, career advisory services, faculty development initiatives and networking forums. Dr Mujahid Kamran said that the MoU will be beneficial for faculty members and students who would get benefit from the experiences of ACCA. Mr Turner said that ACCA would be working with University of the Punjab to further enhance the accountancy and finance curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of a globalised and challenging marketplace. He said this collaboration would build exciting careers for young people and will make a significant contribution to the ongoing economic success of Pakistan.
