Today marked the commencement of an insightful journey into the realm of Real-Time PCR as the Center of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) inaugurated a hands-on workshop aimed at empowering participants with practical expertise in this cutting-edge technology. The event witnessed esteemed guests and experts from diverse fields coming together to foster learning and innovation.

Director of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at the University of the Punjab, Prof. Shakeel Ahmed, graced the event as Chief Guest, emphasizing the significance of bridging academia and lab research with industry. Mr. Abdul Rasheed Shaukat, the General Manager of Production at Sabirs’ Poultry (Pvt.) Ltd., also graced the occasion as the guest of honor, bringing with him a wealth of industry experience and insight.

Dr. Bushra Ijaz, serving as the focal person along with Dr. Samia Afzal, provided an insightful introduction to the workshop, setting the stage for an enriching experience ahead. Director of CEMB, Prof. Moazur Rahman, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, expressing gratitude to the organizers and sponsors for their invaluable support.

The workshop, supported by the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Special Grant in Public Health, as well as sponsors such as PHILCO and Worldwide Scientific, promises to equip participants with essential skills in Real-Time PCR, crucial for both human diagnostics and the poultry industry. Mr. Shaukat, in his address, underscored the importance of entrepreneurship and urged participants to leverage this knowledge to drive innovation within the biotechnology sector.
Prof. Shakeel Ahmed commended the organizers for their comprehensive approach, emphasizing the need for research that translates into tangible commercial outcomes. He lauded CEMB's efforts in this regard and encouraged a shift towards research with commercial viability.
The inauguration ceremony concluded with a token of appreciation presented to the esteemed guests, followed by a group photo capturing the spirit of collaboration and learning. Over the next two days, participants can look forward to immersive sessions covering fundamental and applied aspects of Real-Time PCR, equipping them with the skills to make meaningful contributions to the industry.
