2. Autonomous Ball Scorer Robot
The aim of this project was to build an autonomous robot capable of picking up and potting the balls into goal posts of specified height. Navigation system of the robot comprises of two dc motors driven by H-Bridges under the control of six IR sensors mounted underneath the robot. The ball picking is achieved with the help of worm dc motor and a switch. The ball shooting mechanism consists of a spring compressed by a dc motor which propels the ball when the spring is released.
Three teams were involved in the development of this project. Team1 members include Muhammad Usman Asad, Asif Raza, Osama Tahir, Muhammad Amar and Asim Iqbal. Team2 members include Hasan Mehmood, Muhammad Rizwan, Saad Zahid, Khalil Akhtar and Khurram Shahzad. Team 3 members include Sharaiz Aslam, Ghulam Abbas, Akrama Khan, Muhammad Waqas and Eitzaz ul Haq . Mr. Umar Farooq was the project supervisor.
Team No. 1 (KASHISH)
Team No. 2 (ACCESSION)
Team No. 3 (CEET)
2. Electronic Librarian
The project is involved in the design and development of an automatic storage system for library. Digital camera is used for capturing the image of serial number tag on the book. After the image has been processed, the book is placed automatically in the corresponding shelf with the help of a mechanical structure driven by three direct current (DC) motors. MATLAB® programming environment has been used in developing the system.
Team members include Naveed Shahzad, Nauman Haider, Fahad Raza, Abdul Shakoor and Imran Rasool while the project supervisor was Mr. Umar Farooq.
3. Adaptive Traffic Light Control System
With the increasing number of vehicles on the road, it has become difficult to properly control the flow of traffic especially in large cities like Lahore . The proposed system uses a digital camera mounted on a stepper motor to sense the traffic on the road. The decision to open the lane is done after monitoring the traffic load. The heavily loaded side is turned on for a longer time. Thus the system is intelligent because it is not using the fixed time frame (count down). The signals can also be controlled through a mobile in case of an emergency.
Team members include Sharaiz Aslam, Hafiz Muhammad Atiq and Ghulam Abbas while the Mr. Umar Farooq was the project supervisor.
4. Artificial Vision System for Blind
A guidance system is developed for facilitating visually impaired people. Ultrasonic sensors are used to calculate the distance of obstacle in front of the blind person. The output is in the form of voice which the blind person can hear i.e., very close, close, far etc. Another sensor is attached to the stick to detect ground obstacles. Image processing is utilized to recognize colored objects.
Team members include Asim Iqbal, Hassan Mehmood and Khurram Shahzad. The project is supervised by Mr. Umar Farooq.

5. Virtual Display
Virtual display uses human persistence of vision to display text messages. A bank of LED's is attached to a motorized spinning platform. The spinner platform is directly driven by a DC motor. For creating entertainment effect, an extra bank of LED's is used which is driven using the principle of pulse width modulation. In its advance mode, the system can display images as well.
Team members include Saad Zahid, Khalil Akhtar and Khurram Shahzad. The project is supervised by Mr. Umar Farooq.
6. Intelligent Map Guider
The intelligent map guider will be used to explore the locations inside the university. It is also capable of finding the shortest path between two locations inside the university. LabView software is used for developing the project. The prototype will be utilized for demonstrating Graph Algorithms.
Team members include Muhammad Amar and Muhammad Usman Asad. The project is supervised by Mr. Umar Farooq.
7. Light Following Robot
Light following robot utilizes 24 Light Dependent Resistors (LDR's) mounted across its periphery for sensing the light. The analog value from the sensors is converted into digital form using op-amp as comparators. AT89C52 microcontroller then processes the light information and issue commands to the dc motors which drive the robot accordingly.
Team members include Muhammad Usman Asad, Muhammad Amar and Junaid Ahmad. The project is supervised by Mr. Umar Farooq.
8. Automatic Sun Tracking System

The developed system is able to track the peak intensity value of light from sun. Microcontroller processes the differential information from a pair of LDR's and issue commands to the stepper motor. The system is thus able to track the sun. This is ground work for system “Renewable Energy Resources” which is under development.
Team members include Muhammad Usman Asad, Muhammad Amar and Junaid Ahmad. The project is supervised by Mr. Umar Farooq
