Department of Botany initiated spring tree plantation campaign at its Botanical Garden in collaboration with Punjab Forest Department. Prof. Dr. Tanveer Akhtar, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences was the chief guest. She inaugurated the ceremony by planting a young Araucaria sapling. Chairman, Department of Botany, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem, Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Syed M. Akmal Rahim, Chief Conservator Forests Dr. Shabbir, Emeriti Professors Dr. S.R.A. Shamsi and Dr. Javed Iqbal, faculty members and students were present on the occasion.

During this event faculty members and the students planted young saplings with great interest. Afterwards, various faculty members spoke on the occasion. In her address to the participants, Chief Guest Prof. Dr. Tanveer Akhtar expressed her own affection and love for plants. Chairman Dr. M. Saleem thanked the participants and officers of the Punjab Forest Department for their help in arranging the plantation ceremony and highlighting the significance of trees. He also thanked the Chief Guest for taking time out to participate despite her busy schedule.
